My Grandfather was there with F company of the 501st. It looks like Lt Hess was actually in the same company as my Grandpa. The 501st were the first to fight in Bastogne. Despite heavy casualties, they didn't give up any ground either!

My father flew TBM for the Navy in the Pacific theatre. He was so young. He could already fly…used the money he had mad catching rattlers for the scientists in San Antonio trying to develop an anti-venom to pay for his lessons. He once landed on the jeep,carrier plane on fire. He hit his head on the steel wall in the cockpit and could hear but not speak. They were going to push the plane overboard with him in it. His 16 year old radioman pulled him out. The injury kept him partially deaf and with a permanent injury because his pistol had slammed into his hip. He went on flying throughout the rest of the war but that hip injury bothered him all the time…never complained.

This is only surviving Type II U-Boat in the world , it should be preserved

This is wonderful! I am in central Arkansas and have been doing research on Ebert's Army Airfield. I have walked around the old hangar foundations and imagined what it would have looked like then. I can't wait to go back out there after seeing this footage. The Army fields were all the same layout so they all had the same appearance.

The beaches were Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, Sword, and Band beaches 🇺🇸 🍁 🇬🇧
